Why I decided to go natural.
This is a blog just to express my reasons for choosing to go natural. I first decided to go natural in 2005. I had moved to a new state and decided to express my change with a new lifestyle. I went to a loctician and started the process of sistalocs. I was so pleased with my new locs and my new life. I unfortunately was talked out of my natural being and went back to the "anti-natural." I found anything to cover up my real beauty, braids, wigs, weave, anything! In 2007, I stopped "doing" perms again and wore wigs to cover up my natural state. In 2008, a friend of mine decided to go natural and had did alot of research, therefore, I took off the wigs and joined her. We used products like Carol's Daughter, Hollywood Beauty, and Ultra Sheen products, just to name a few. We did the co-washing methods, detangling, twist and braid-outs. We were on our way to natural ecstasy. My friend is still "loose natural" while I have decided to start locs. We have made decisions that are healthier for us as African American women. By starting locs, I have made a spiritual decision. My locs are the crown of HIS glory. ~ I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying , Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. ~ Song 5:2 ~ And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. Judges 16:19~
